Predicting 2020 Fitness Trends
It’s 2020.
A New Year.
New Ideas.
New Fitness Trends
In 2019, the biggest trend we saw was the emergence of the super cheap gym membership, most notably, your Planet Fitness or Fit 4 Less. Large group training began to make an emergence in 2019 as well, but I think Large Group Training will become a big trend in 2020.
Here are a few new trends I see coming for 2020.
1. A Massive Rise in Online Training – I’ve mentioned before that online personal training was on the rise, and it will continue to grow in 2020. But with Peloton becoming popular, you’ll see a huge jump in people engaging in live stream workouts. I think Peloton’s idea is incredible, and the fact that you can live stream a bike ride is super cool.
With technology improving, online training is only going to continue to grow and become better.
2. The emergence of Large Group Training – Large group training is becoming increasingly popular. F45’s and Orange Theory are opening everywhere. And they’re putting a staple on the large group training format. It reminds me of when Crossfit took off about 10 years ago. I’m not sure if this new fad of large group training will last, but it’s nice to see that more people are exercising and taking action on their health.
3. Competition for Members – Last year, we saw the rise in gyms offering super cheap memberships. Towards the end of 2019, we saw the rise of pricey large group training memberships. Nevertheless, the competition is increasing day by day, and it’s only going to get more competitive through 2020. I’m not sure what gyms are going to survive, or which ones will close their doors. But with all of this competition, it’s going to be hard for gyms to stay open.
These are a few trends I see coming for 2020. Let me know your thoughts 🙂
Salute,
Remi
